Purple Heart Medal

The PURPLE HEART is the U.S. Military’s oldest medal and is awarded in the name of the President of the United States to the Armed Forces of the United States who, while serving under competent authority in any capacity with one of the U.S. Armed Services after April 5, 1917, has been wounded or killed in the line of duty. As such, each hero listed in this database has earned the Purple Heart Medal for their ultimate sacrifice to this great country.

This site permanently honors the sacrifice of the brave men and women of Berks County who died defending our liberty and freedom.

The Hall of Heroes exists as an enduring tribute where their sacrifices are remembered and forever recognized.
